MOTS-C 40 Pen

PEPTIVA MOTS-C 40 PEN contains MOTS-C (mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c), a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome, supplied as a 40mg/3ml pre-filled research pen.

What it is. MOTS-C is one of a small family of mitochondrial-derived peptides identified in 2015. Published work — predominantly in cell lines and mice — studies its movement into the nucleus under metabolic stress, interaction with the folate–methionine cycle and AMPK signalling, and age-related changes in circulating levels.

Evidence status. Findings are preclinical. A single small human safety study of a related analogue has been reported; no efficacy in humans has been established.
