PEPTIVA MT2 META-10 NASAL PEN contains Melanotan II (MT2), a synthetic cyclic lactam analogue of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). MT2 is a non-selective agonist of melanocortin receptors MC1R through MC5R, with particular affinity for MC1R (pigmentation) and MC4R (energy homeostasis and sexual function). MT2 stimulates melanogenesis — the production of melanin pigment in melanocytes — through MC1R activation, leading to increased skin pigmentation independent of UV exposure. This mechanism has made MT2 one of the most extensively studied compounds in dermatological and pigmentation research.
